The National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) is a program in India aimed at preventing and controlling vector-borne diseases. It focuses on diseases like malaria, dengue, chikungunya, lymphatic filariasis, Japanese encephalitis, and kala-azar.

Common Mosquito Breeding Sources:

  • Water collected in containers around homes (e.g., pots, coolers, trays)

  • Water collected in used tires

  • Flower pots with stagnant water

  • Overhead tanks, sumps, and uncovered barrels

  • Coconut shells and other waste items collecting rainwater

Symptoms of Dengue:

  • Sudden high fever

  • Severe headache, muscle, and joint pain

  • Pain behind the eyes

  • Skin rash and bleeding (e.g., from nose, gums, or under skin)

Preventive Measures at Home:

  • Use mosquito nets while sleeping

  • Use mosquito repellent coils, liquids, sprays, and electric vaporizers

  • Fix mesh on doors and windows to prevent mosquito entry

  • Wear full-sleeve clothes, especially for children and pregnant women

  • Clean and empty water containers at least once a week
