Glass House

India’s largest glass House has been constructed near Kunduvada in Davanagere at a cost of Rs 30 crore. Glass House will bring another feather to the Davanagere chosen for the Smart City project. This beautiful palace attracts tourists from all over the country to Davanagere and enhances the prestige of the district.It surpasses Bangalore’s Lal Bagh Glass Palace in terms of area and beauty. It was Inaugurated by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on March 13, 2018.

This glass house is 108 meters long, 68 meters wide and 18 meters high. It is made of sophisticated design using saint, gobain glass. Inside is granite flooring. These glasses control the heat of the sun and make it feel cool inside. The glass house is built on three acres out of 12 acres. In the year 2014-15, when Shamanur Sivasankarappa was the minister, the work which started at a cost of Rs 5 crore has now reached an estimated cost of Rs 30 crore.

Kunduvada Kere

Kunduvada Kere is a popular destination of the city which serves as a major picnic spot. Located near the Kundvada Village on NH-4 Bypass road, the place is best known for its mesmerizing views of sunrise and sunset.

Another major feature of the area is the tank spread across the area of 253 acres is an importance source of drinking water of the city as well as for storing water in summer season.

Durgambika Temple (Durgamma Devastana)

Durgambika Temple is located in the Old Town or Halepet area of Shivaji nagara in Davangere. It is said that around 200 years ago, a stone was brought from Dugatti Village and installed in this temple and worshipped as Durga Devi. In 1932, this shrine was converted into the beautiful Durgambika Temple. The presiding deity is Durgambika, known variously as Durgamma, Durgambika, and Durgavva.

Tuesdays and Fridays are special days each week here. The main festival of the region is the temple fair or Jatre held every two years . This would be an ideal time to visit the place. Once you reach Davangere, you can opt for a local bus service or an auto rickshaw to reach this temple.

Kalleshwara Temple Bagali

Bagali, famous for an ancient Kalleshwara Temple of 9th century is situated in the proximity to Harpanahalli. Showcasing the Chalukyan period architectural style, the temple complex houses carved statue of Lord Ugra Narasimha.

The outer walls are featured with beautiful sculptures and carvings. One can also witness many Panchalinga temples lying in the vicinity of the main temple.

Santhebennur Pushkarani (Karanji Mantapa)

Karanji Mantapa is another historic place in the city that offers its tourists the antiquity of its glorious past. Featuring a tank of Santhebennur adorned with beautiful stone carved chariot in its middle, the place is almost 36 km from the city.

Pushkarani is another major attraction of the city showcasing the Kushmnada style of architecture. Built using the slab of red stones, it is said to be existing since 16th century and comprises of six mantapas and 52 steps to main entrance.

Harihareshwara Temple

Harihar is renowned for its 12th century Harihareshwara temple which was during Hoysala era. Presiding deity is Harihareshwara which is a combination of Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu. The area is also known as “Dakshina Kashi”.

Sri Anjaneya Swamy Temple

Sri Anjaneya Swamy Temple is an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman is believed to be established around 800 years ago, the estimated time of origin of Shamanur Village.

Situated in the same village nearly 5 kms away from the city, this temple was recently reconstructed in year 2000 with a Dravidian style of architecture at the same spot of the original shrine. Due to its religious significance, the temple is flocked with devotees in large number especially on Saturdays, the day of special puja. A three day festival called Rathothsav is also celebrated annually by the villagers and temple authorities commencing from the tenth day of Maha Shivratri.

Bathi Gudda

Located about 5km from Davanagere, this place is a sight of beauty and tranquility. It is a mountainous peak offering a spell binding sight of Harihar and the cities of Davanagere.

Apart from it, you will also find an ancient temple and a Dargah of Chaman Shah Wali on the peak. These tow holy shrines surrounded by endless flora are flocked by devotees in large number especially during annual festivities. The hill also houses large variety of flora, Bathi Lake and Bhadra Sugar factory. Fondly referred to as Pavithra Vana, Davanagere Dairy is also situated here which supplies milk to the district.

Sulekere (Shanthi Sagara Lake)

Also referred to as Soole Kere or Shanthi Sagara, this place is a famous tourist attraction and a main source of water supply. The pond said to be created during 12th century by Princess Shanthi is a second largest pond in Asia. It is about 18 km away from Channagiri to Davanagere route in Channagiri Taluk.

Apart from being a significant source for drinking and agriculture, the place is also a perfect picnic spot. A temple devoted to Lord Siddeshwara located in the proximity attracts lots of devotees throughout the year. A great channel designed by Sir M Visvesvaraya also attracts a large crowd.

Uchangidurga

Uchangidurga is a village in the southern state of Karnataka. It is located in the Harapanahalli taluk of Ballari district in Karnataka.Uchangidurga was ruled under Nayakas (Madakari Nayakas of Chitradurga) and it is famous for its Uchangemma Temple. On every month full moon day, people gather here from far places to worship Uchangemma. Based on deep, ancient Hindu customs and ritual contributes to the popularity of this deity.

Ranganathaswamy Temple, Nirthadi

The Ranganatha Swamy Temple at Nirthadi (also spelt Neerthadi or Niratadi), is a post-Vijayanagara Empire re-construction. Nirthadi is a village in the Davangere district. According to noted historian and epigraphist Benjamin Lewis Rice, a Kannada language inscription dated 1698 AD in the temple premise describes the destruction of the original temple by the armies of Mogul emperor Aurangzeb in 1696 AD. The Chitradurga chief Baramappa Nayaka (1689–1721) rebuilt the temple in 1698 AD. The monument is protected by the Karnataka state division of Archaeological Survey of India.

Devarabelakere pickup dam is constructed at downstream of the Bhadra Reservoir at a distance of 136  Km. It is Located near Devarabelakere village of Harihara Taluk of Davanagere District.Devarabelakere reservoir water is suitable for irrigation purposes in both post monsoon and pre monsoon season. Therefore, this water is useful for growing Cotton, Jawar, Maize, Navane, Sajje and Groundnut.This reservoir is a tourist attraction also.

Helavankatte Ranganathaswamy Temple(Komaranahalli)

Komaranahalli (Helavankatte) is a village located on the Karnataka State Highway No. 25, at a distance of 1.5 km from Malebennur (towards Honnali and Shimoga). The village has a hillock on the top of which is the Temple of Sri Ranganathaswamy. In the Sanctum Sanctorum of the Temple is the Udbhavamurthy of Ranga (Ranganatha) and Linga (Shiva) emerging out from a single rock. In this place, the legendary Helavanakatte Giriamma, a great devotee of Sri Ranganatha, is said to have lived and composed her famous Kirtanas which are a regarded as a part of the Dasa Sahitya. During the Murugodu Yatra, Appa had stayed along with the other Devotees at this Temple on the day of Ramanavami. In October 1951, he laid the foundation for the Ranganatrashram.

Outside the Appa’s Samadhi, the Prarthana Mandira has been build, next to which is the Yogamandira. The Ashrama premises also has a Datta mantapa, a Vyasamandira and several rooms for people to stay during the Annual events. Also part of the Ashrama are a Well, some Coconut grooves and a garden

Bethur

Bethur is an ancient site with an essence of old world where one can witness the relics of Chalukyan style of architecture.
